For the Love of Vintage

A few years ago, I would have crinkled my nose at the thought of anything vintage. Why would anyone want something that looks really old and antique? Why choose something crinkly and yellowy over something bright and shiny and new? Of course, back then I would never have thought that years later I would actually meet someone who loves anything and everything vintage and that I would actually try making her a card. And you know what? I'm going to swallow my pride and say I'm one of you vintage lovers now! I'm having so much fun distressing/aging papers, combining antique colors and exploring flowers and laces! Okay, okay, and I'm also loving the antique look.

So this is for my friend, April, the oh-so-talented young lady who owns Artisan Designs Studio. We met a few months before my wedding when I ordered a personalized guestbook and some giveaways for my entourage. She posted pictures of my orders which turned out to be sooo beautiful and did a blog post of them here. And with her work, I was inspired to awaken my creative side, take out my scissors from the drawer and get crafty again! I'd have to add that I've always been a bit crafty and have been making personalized cards since I was in grade school, but I kind of hibernated when I started working. I got too caught up with the pressures of being a grown-up {if I can call me that, haha}that I forgot how liberating and happy crafting always makes me feel. So that's how I got back. April's projects are so beautiful they made me  want to make my own. Oh you should visit her site. You'll definitely love it!

Okay, enough with the blabbering. Here's the card I sent her for Valentine's Day. My first attempt at going vintage and I loved it! Happy to say she loved it too.

Thanks for dropping by!
