My Homemade Corkboard Set for Mom

I finally completed my project for Mother's Day! :)

Ta-Da!!

A corkboard set consisting of a corkboard {obviously},
a pen holder and a notepad holder

A photo of me, my mum and my sister, the girls of the family.

I'm sure you can all figure out how to do the corkboard. I just covered an illustration board with striped patterned paper, mounted the corkboard to it and embellished my heart out. :) So you'll need the following:
- illustration board
- cork board
- patterned wrapping paper
- embellishments (I used stamps, rub-ons, lace, flowers and a buckle)

As for the other components of the set, here's a step-by-step of how I did them.

Pen Holder

Recipe:
- canister
- patterned wrapping paper
- embellishments (flowers and lace for this one)
- adhesives (double-sided tape and quick-drying glue)
- scissors
- paper trimmer

1. I covered a canister with my patterned paper and embellished with lace and flowers. I recycled a Pik-Nik canister for this one as it was just the right size for me.
2. I cut out a strip of the patterned paper, around 1 inch in size and positioned it at the center of the canister in such a way that it created a checkered pattern (see illustration above).
3. I adhered it to place using a double-sided tape.

And we're done with the pen holder! Now on to the notepad holder..

Notepad Holder

Recipe:
- box
- cutter/scissors
- patterned wrapping paper
- patterned paper for the calendar
- calendar cut out or printed
- credit card protection sleeve
- embellishments

1. I chose a small box for the project and cut out the top. I covered it with patterned paper and set it aside.
2. It took me a while to figure out how to attach a pocket for a calendar. I'm so happy I thought of cutting out a credit card protection sleeve from my credit card holder! It saved me the time and effort I would have had to do to make a pocket out of plastic or transparency. Phew!
3. I adhered the protection sleeve to the covered box with double-sided tape. Then, I made a calendar out of patterned paper and a calendar page for the month of May. Size should be that of a calling card or credit card so it will fit perfectly into the credit card protection sleeve.
4. I inserted the calendar layout into the protection sleeve and again embellished with lace and flowers.

DONE! Wasn't that easy-peasy? :) I'm not sure I was as clear as I wanted to be though so if you have any questions, feel free to leave a comment and ask away.
